We have been using a single Voltaire 4036 with with about 12 Nodes connected. They are a combination of SAN and Hyper-V 2012 R2 Cluster Nodes. Each Node has a Dual port IB card. We use the dual ports for redundancy and load balancing.
I would like to improve our redundancy through addition of a 2nd switch.
I added a 2nd Voltaire 4036 switch and connected a standard QDR cable between the two and that seems to have established connectivity between the two - a server on Switch1 can ping a server on Switch2.
Is this the correct way to connect these switches? Is there any configuration that needs to be done?
I do not expect us to be going beyond the 2 switches for some time.
Ultimately I plan do distribute all of the Nodes so they have PortA on Switch1 and PortB on Switch2, but for the time being I am moving things as I can given this is a production environment.
Thanks,
Todd
